Dear parents,
Winter is just around the corner and next term your child will have an opportunity to experience ice skating during some of the PE lessons. In our attempts to improve our PE Program, we have decided to use different ice skating venues this year. This will give us the opportunity to do a variety of exercises and drills with the students. In Kungsträdgården they only allow skating around the oval.
However, this means that we will use venues where the students can't rent ice skates. Instead, they will have to bring their own. They can also bring their own helmet, but thanks to the PTA, we will be able to provide helmets for anyone that hasn't got one.
Fortunately, a pair of ice skates are not very expensive. We estimate that you can get a pair for between 200-300 Skr. Stadium, Intersport, Sportex, Hi sport and other sports shops all have ice skates. Please note that there are different kinds of skates available in the stores. We prefer if you buy ice hockey skates. However, figure skates are ok.
For students spending the winter holiday in Stockholm there are about 20 different skating venues where your child can skate for free. Have a look at www.stockholm.idrott/se for more information regarding the nearest venue from where you live.
Please note that this concerns students in grade 7-10. Primary School and grade 6 will skate in Kungsträdgården and skates and helmets will be provided.
Best regards,
Andre Forssen Åsa Hellström
